In 2019 this dream became a reality.
Boann Distillery is an independent, family-run distillery, born from the entrepreneurial spirit of Patrick and Marie Cooney, alongside their children: Sally-Anne, Celestine, Peter, Paddy and James.
With over 50 years of experience in the Irish drinks industry, the Cooneys embody the tradition and importance of family distilling in Ireland. Every one of them takes immense pride in creating a whiskey of distinctive character, deeply rooted in its sense of place.
Today, their extended family spans far and wide—from their distilling team to sales teams around the globe. Together, they share a singular vision: to showcase to the world the boundless flavours and potential of Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey.
